Junior Kyler Anderson stands during the walkout. The names and small biographies of the students were read aloud for the first few minutes, followed by silence.
Students gather to memorialize the 17 students who died in the February 14th Parkland shooting. The walkout began at 10 a.m. and lasted for 17 minutes.
An estimated 200 students filled the spine to remember the lives of those killed.
Senior Cara Hoene looks away from the crowd during the walkout. “I thought it was really meaningful for us to remember the lives that were taken. Students should not have to go to school afraid and I am proud of my generation for standing up for what we believe in. We stand with Parkland,” says Hoene.
